After a mild, cold and rainy winter bud bursting happens in the April early days, unfortunately stopped by a terrible frost on April 7 and 8. Then May has been dry and warm, and flowering starts at the end of the month from May 8 to June 4. It is followed by unstable cool and rainy weather. July and August are unstable and cool; mid-veraison arrives around August 8.
September follows humid in its first half ; then followed by a sunny and dry October. Thanks to an extraordinary job in the vines we have been able to pick top quality Merlots. Then as our grapes were superb and could wait, we have picked top quality Cabernet mid-October. The farms on the right bank have superb aromas and are silky.
Blend: 54 % Cabernet Franc, 45 % Merlot, 1 % Cabernet Sauvignon
« Garnet with brilliant hues, the Chateau TrotteVieille 2021 shines with its aromatic brilliance, with notes of red fruits (cherry, raspberry) and flowers. After a smooth attack, it develops a silky texture, rich in flavours but with a lot of freshness. The tannins are precise, very light extractions have allowed to preserve their delicacy. The finish is marked by the characteristic salinity of this calcareous terroir. »

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, the Castéja family and the Château TrotteVieille team had the pleasure of gathering 150 guests as part of Primeurs 2021 and the inauguration of the new installations at Château TrotteVieille.

Beautiful bottles were served during a dinner placed : Chateau TrotteVieille 2015 and 1961, 2000 and 1959, 1983 and 1949 and the Very Old Vines of Chateau TrotteVieille 2018. The gourmet menu, prepared by the Michelin-starred Chef Christian Le Squer of the famous restaurant le V in Paris, perfectly accompanied the wines of the Château.
