Tasting notes & comments

James Suckling 93

The aromas are quite decadent in this second wine with green olives, plums and flowers. Medium to full body and firm, chewy tannins with a dusty coating. Driven and focused finish. A blend of 52% merlot, 46% cabernet franc and 2% cabernet sauvignon. Second wine of Château TrotteVieille. This needs two or three years to come together, but already very pretty.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown Robert Parker

Composed of 56% Cabernet Franc with Merlot and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 La Vieille Dame de TrotteVieille is medium garnet-purple with quite an earthy/gamey nose with notions of unsmoked cigars and pencil lead over a cherry pie and blackberry tart core. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and a crisp backbone supporting the muscular fruit, finishing a little firm.

Tasting notes & comments

James Suckling 93-94

This is really excellent for the second wine of this estate and shows a solid center palate of fruit and tannins. Full body and flavors of minerals and coffee beans. Can’t wait to see this evolve.

James Molesworth Wine Spectator

Features moderate tobacco-infused grip throughout, giving the red and black currant preserve fruit an accessible feel, while light bramble and singed cedar accents chime through the finish.

Neal Martin Robert Parker

The 2015 Dame de TrotteVieille is a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Franc, representing 40-45% of the total production. There was just a little leanness on the nose at first, simple red berry fruit with an attractive earthiness developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin on the entry, moderate depth with a masculine, bell pepper tinged finish thanks to the Cabernet Franc.

Tasting notes & comments

James Suckling 94

Aromas of stone, limestone, flowers and dark fruits. Full to medium body, very polished and refined tannins and a long and meticulously polished finish. Very pretty. 58% merlot and 32% cabernet franc. Second wine of Château TrotteVieille.

James Molesworth Wine Spectator

Fresh and racy in feel, with bright savory, damson plum, bitter cherry and cedar notes that are nicely focused. The finish is carried by lightly mouthwatering acidity. One to drink while you wait for the big boys to hit their peak.

Jancis Robinson 16

42% Cabernet Franc, 58% Merlot. About 20% of total production. Very fresh nose. Lifted and lively. Clean and racy.

Tasting notes & comments

James Suckling 93

Extremely floral and beautiful with roses and strawberries. Raspberries, too. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins and a savory finish. Reserved and refined. Second wine.

Neal Martin Robert Parker

The 2014 La Vieille Dame de TrotteVieille just felt a little raw on the nose when I tasted it, a very cool nose with wilted violets infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red berry fruit laced with undergrowth, black pepper and orange rind, good weight on the finish if just missing a little detail.

Tasting notes & comments

James Suckling

This is tight and firm with currant, citrus and hints of lemon grass. Medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Second wine of TrotteVieille.

Roger Voss Wine Enthusiast 90

The second wine of Saint-Émilion premier cru classé TrotteVieille is full of fruit while also having plenty of structure. It shows signs of becoming a delicious, fresh wine with attractive tannins and red-berry fruits.

Tasting notes & comments

James Suckling 90-91

A soft and easy wine with berry and chocolate. Medium body, with tannins. Soft. This is the first year that Bergat has been incorporated in the new second wine from TrotteVieille. Merlot 50% and 50% Cabernet Franc.
